I've been in Gomel, Belarus these past couple of weeks, organizing the making of videos or fifty or so ladies from that city. As many of you know, Gomel was where our agency first started and from there has grown to cover almost all of the former USSR, with offices now in some forty five different cities, making us by far the largest marriage agency in Europe, and probably now in the world, who deal exclusively in finding men wives from the former USSR.

As part of our continuous drive to ensure we give our customers, ie you, what you want, we've run the first of a series of filming sessions in Gomel, Belarus. We filmed some fifty or so ladies, and are in the process of producing streaming media versions of the videos. Now if anyone has ever tried streaming movies on using a modem, they'll know they are blocky, low resolution and often break up, so much so that many people question the value of movies streamed to people using dial up or modem connections to the internet.

Unfortunately, the vast majority or people still use slow dial up connections as opposed to ASDL, DSL or cable modem (broadband) connections. ASDL connections, here in the UK, where Blue Sapphires is based, costs around £30 a month, which is around $45 US dollars per month. They are becoming increasingly popular, which is also true elsewhere in the world. To stream video at a reasonable resolution, you need a broadband connection.

Rather than have low resolution, blocky graphical versions of the ladies videos, we have opted to provide broadband only versions of the ladies videos, to provide videos of a reasonable quality. For those of you without broadband connections, we'll also be providing the option to download the video, which will take, on average, around fifteen minutes per video using a 56K modem. We will also be providing the option to obtain the videos on CD and DVD, in due course, once they are complete.

It's going to take a little while to edit and generate the streamed versions of each ladies video, so we'll be uploading around one per day to the server. The videos will be shown on our video page. You can already see three, new, lovely ladies which were uploaded over the weekend.

For those ladies who were able to speak in English, the lady has done so, thus giving you some idea of her English ability. For those ladies who could not speak in English, or did not feel confident speaking in English, we've had one of our translators translate her words, although you'll still be able to hear what she sounds like speaking Russian.

It was an interesting time, and a time where I got to speak to many of the ladies personally about their experiences with our agency. Many of them were surprised by hoe difficult it seemed for them to find a partner from the west. In watching some of the videos, it's surprising just how different the thinking is, in the former USSR, to that of the west. Western women generally look for a handsome guy, around the same age, who has money. In contrast, Russian women look for a reliable, sensible, husband and father for their children. To the girls, these issues are far more important than appearance, money and to some extent, age. We have many, many happy clients who have married the most beautiful and caring ladies from the former USSR, who would never have looked at them had the lady been from the west.

You guys are really the lucky ones from this, in that you've decided to marry a lady from the former USSR. All you have to do is make it happen, and we'll do our best to help in that respect. It's now the start of November and very soon the former USSR will be covered in snow again, which is why we wanted to do this session before the end of the year. The next sessions, in other cities will begin again in the spring time.

The period between the end of summer and spring is a time where you can get to know the lady, or find the lady you want, in preparation for the trip in Spring or Summer time. If you're thinking that you'll just write a little bit longer, or you already writing to a lady and you are running out of things to write, or you feel you know enough about her, then get yourself on a plane and go visit her.

The Russian winter is not very nice, but this in itself puts off a lot of people, so if you can stand the cold, and take the appropriate clothes, then there is no reason why the lady shouldn't end up as your wife. Remember, sad as this may be, even the pretty ladies don't get that many visitors, so they often marry the first SUITABLE guy who comes to visit them. So if you're writing to a lady who is very popular, be aware that if you don't go, then someone else may well go there first and your opportunity to make that lady your wife will be lost.

Although we have lots of cities around the former USSR we run tours to, I'm going to focus on Gomel. To go to Gomel, you fly to Minsk, the capital of Belarus, where you're met by Lenid, our driver from Gomel, who's photo is shown on the right. He will collect you and take you the five hours by car to Gomel.

In Gomel you'll meet Vitaly, our office manager, who's photo is shown below, right. He will arrange everything for you during your stay. You'll stay in our own apartment close to the office and in the center of town. These are some of the best apartments in the city, and much, much better than the run down hotels you'll find in most places in the former USSR.

You'll be assigned a personal secretary, who will arrange all of your meetings with the ladies. For those ladies who don't speak English, we can arrange a translator to be with the two of you. All the meetings are on a one to one basis, either in a cafe, over lunch, dinner etc, or whatever setting you and the lady are happy with. If you meet, and it doesn't work out, we'll arrange as many more meetings as necessary until you find the lady for you, and you're the guy for her. However, you should be prepared to put in the time to find the lady for you. I'm always surprised by the guys who want to come for a few days, especially those who come all the way from the US. Remember, you're looking for a wife, so you should really plan on one to two weeks. You're going to spend a lot of time together in the coming years, so put in the appropriate amount effort into meeting the ladies and getting to know them.

Our office in Gomel has an interesting map on the wall, shown on the left. It shows all the clients who have come to Gomel, which is just one of the forty five cities we have an office in. I thought you'd like to see it, to see how many men have already found wives, especially from the US. Every flag is a guy who's come on a tour to Gomel. Remember, almost EVERY guy who's goes on one of our tours, meets the lady he later marries. Our tours have something like a 90% success rate, much, much higher than some of our large US counterparts who run these awful 'group tours'.

However, the European side is somewhat lacking in flags, and lot of the ladies I met said they'd love to meet guys from Europe, so next time I'm there, maybe we'll have a lot more flags on the European map as well. Come on, we have at least as many European clients as US clients, and you guys are so much closer. Minsk is just a 3 hour direct flight from London, around two hours from Germany and Italy and those countries on the eastern side of Europe.

Traveling to the former USSR with our tours is easy, so go and meet her. Don't be one of the guys who sits there and wonders if that girl you've been looking at for weeks will want to see you or not, write a letter to her and find out. Don't look back in a few years time and say 'what if', take control of your life and find the lady for you.

We have some 17,000 ladies on our database, over 1100 added last month and over 1200 from the city of Gomel, many of whom will be appearing on our Video pages in the next couple of months. So have a look, and start writing to some ladies, and more importantly, start planning the spring or summer trip.
