Letter Writing Success

I guess, what I'm trying to say here, is be careful about who you write to, and hope to fall in love with. Marriages between couples who have too large an age gap, sometimes only last as long as the period the lady requires to obtain the right to stay in a particular country. You have to ask yourself what the ladies motives are in agreeing to marry someone much, much older than themselves. We are all adults, here and you are free to write to whoever you wish. However, if you write to ladies who are much, much younger than themselves, then you should expect the reply rate to correspondingly lower than if you wrote to ladies who were a closer to your own age.

The 100% guaranteed way to get positive replies

You will find that our search engine (see http://www.bluesapphires.net/engine.shtml) is quite useful in allowing you to search for the type of lady you are looking for, but you may just wish to look through the album pages one at a time (see http://www.bluesapphires.net/album) although please remember, the album pages are sorted by popularity, so the most popular, and generally the most beautiful, ladies appear at the start of the album, and the least popular ladies appear towards the end.

Having selected ten ladies who you think might be suitable, you need to write an introduction letter. Take time to do this. It's something you may have to revisit a number of times, in order to ensure you get it right. Read the next part of this mail (letter writing tips) before you send your letter.

Next, we come to photos. You can send JPG or GIF format photos only through our service, and they must be no larger than 100K in size. The photo needs to be a good one, as the lady will judge you on this photo, in the same way as you have by looking at her photos. If you don't own a scanner for you computer, go and get one from your local computer shop, as they are not expensive, and will come in useful.

Having perfected you introduction letter, you can either send it by postal mail to each lady or send it through our multiple letter submission service (see http://www.bluesapphires.net/letters.html). If you send letters by postal mail, it's very important that they go by registered (i.e. signed for) mail. Postal mail can take up to two weeks in either direction, so it's somewhat slow. Register mail from the US to Russia typically costs around $8.

Our mail forwarding service, by comparison, takes around one to two days in either direction and also has the option to translate letters to/from Russian. We charge only $6 for a registered letter, and it's there in days, not weeks. However, please remember, that those ladies who have language ability three or less may not understand letters written in English/French/German etc, so you should have these letters, and their replies, translated.

So after sending out your initial letters, depending on how good a match you are to the ladies you have written, you should expect to receive replies in about one week with our mail forwarding service, or around four weeks if you send your letters by postal mail. You then write to and fro for a while, until such time as the two of you feel you are ready to meet. This technique works 100% of the time, providing you are realistic about who you write to and stick at it. The first month costs $155 for membership and $80 for the ten letters (registered letter with one photo). The second month, and future months cost $100 to send out the same letter to ten more ladies. It's very rare, after just two months, that a client hasn't received at least some positive replies using this approach. After several months, even the more difficult clients to match, usually have some positive replies.

Letter writing tips

1. Use registered mail. It doesn't matter how good your letter is, or if you are exactly what she is looking for. If she doesn't receive your letter, your wasting your time. Unfortunately, lots of mail goes missing in the former USSR. Registered letters require a signature upon delivery, and are generally returned to the sender if they can not be delivered. It costs a little more to send letters by registered post, and takes a little longer at the post office, but it is worth it for the increased chance of delivery.

2. Be open minded. If you are fifty something, pick the cutest twenty something, and write only to her, your in for a big disappointment. The main mistake most guys make is, initially, to be too restrictive in their choice of ladies. You must remember that there are lots of other guys out there who also want to have a Russian bride. The ladies can, at times, be quite selective about who they write to, because they may have many suitors. The best approach is to select a reasonable number of ladies, about ten, and write the same INITIAL letter to each (see http://www.bluesapphires.net/letters.html). See how many replies you get and take it from there. If you get no replies, read on.

3. Be realistic. As in the previous example, try to pick ladies who are about the same age as yourself, and no more than ten year age difference. Although it might be nice to have a wife twenty years younger than yourself, how long do you really think she will stick around? Write to a number of girls, ones you find acceptable as your wife, not just the incredibly beautiful ones. Remember that the prettiest ladies get the most letters, many of the other very nice ones actually get very few letters. You only have to look past the first few pages of the ladies photo album to see some very nice but lonely ladies.

4. Be prepared to meet your ladies. Unless you are willing to make the journey to meet your chosen lady, there is no real point in writing to a lady, so consider this when you start writing to her. Letter writing is fine, up to a point, until you've got to know her. At some point you have to meet her and decide, or someone else will do it for you and you will have lost her. When deciding who to write to consider her location. It's a lot easier to meet a lady from Moscow, than somewhere in northern Siberia simply because it's a lot easier to travel there. Expect to meet a few ladies before you find the right one. If you pick ladies from the same city or area, then at least this will keep down the number of plane tickets you require. A lot of our ladies come from Belarus, because that's where our agency first started, although we have ladies from all over the former USSR. The best time to visit the former USSR is the spring and autumn, but our tours get booked up quickly during these months, so book early. The quietest time is winter, when it can be very cold, which puts off a lot of people from traveling.

5. Consider the language problems. She may be very beautiful, but if she doesn't speak your native language it will be more difficult. This is not to say only pick ladies who speak English, but just that you need to consider this when selecting who to write to. The language ability is shown as a rating from one to five, five being excellent, one being poor. Also remember the ladies can learn English very quickly, if sufficiently motivated, as English is a much easier language to learn than Russian. We can help with this through translating letters to/from English/Russian and providing a translator when you wish to meet the lady concerned. My own wife did not speak English that well when I first meet her two years ago. Now she speaks very well, after living in the UK for one year. If you write to a lady who doesn't speak English, it really does pay to translate your letters into Russian, as the lady may not understand what you have written otherwise.

6. Enclose a good photo. Always enclose a good photo of yourself when writing to a lady. This is not one of you and your mates drinking down the pub, one of you with your arm around some girl, one with sunglasses, or one you need to squint so hard your eyes fall out to see what you look like. Include a close up shot of your upper body, one in which you can see your face clearly. Remember, this is really all the lady has to go on, so make sure you make a good impression.

7. Write something interesting. I am always surprised by the clients who write letter like "Hi my name is joe, write me please" and don't even enclose a photo. For the ladies who receive lots of letters, you have to write a letter which stands out from the others. You need to include important pieces of information about yourself such as your age, occupation, if you already have children, if those children live with you, what you interests are etc. Also write something interesting about the lady and why you are attracted to her. If she has a dog and you're interested in animals, ask about it. If she's interested in skiing, and you share that interest, ask her about it.

8. Pay for the ladies letters. We give the clients the option to allow the lady to pay to write back to the client. By default, the client pays, unless you tell us otherwise. If you use this option, please be aware that you will seriously reduce the number of replies, especially from the ladies who receive many letters. Except in places such as Moscow, most people in the former USSR earn around $50 per month or less, so be a gentleman and don't ask her to pay to write to you.

9. Evaluate your success and try, try again. If at first you don't succeed, evaluate your letter and expectations, and try again. We have over 11,000 ladies on the site, and some of these ladies have never received one letter from anyone. Don't do what everyone else does and just look at the first few album pages. Look a bit deeper, there are some really nice ladies there, and the competition is not as bad. There is a lady waiting for everyone, it's just a matter of finding her. 10. Send a gift. If you are really interested a special lady and wish to ensure a reply, send the lady a gift, some flowers, candy or perfume. Very few clients do this, and it almost always results in a reply. It's not a cheap option, compared to writing letters, but for that special lady, it can work very well. We can deliver gifts for clients, or you can send them by normal mail. Be sure to use registered mail, as gifts can sometimes be lost or stolen in the former USSR mail system. Don't sent expensive presents or the lady may be asked to pay import duty to receive the gift.
